We are registered youth-led non-profit making organization headquartered in Coast region, Kibaha district. We are dedicated to become an advocate for releasing children, women and youth from poverty. EMMANUEL Foundation is committed to working at the community level to unlock and develop the potential of young people and women to become healthy, responsible and productive citizens through partnerships and collaboration.
Having known that 74% of Tanzanian children live in multidimensional poverty; 29% live in households below monetary poverty; 43.9% children between ages of 0-14 years and 19.1% youth between 15-24 years. EMMANUEL Foundation believes that this population is useful, but their potential for development is constrained by income poverty and poor nurturing practices, particularly from semi-urban and rural areas. We have seen poor family planning practices reducing the quality of nurturing care services for both children and youth, increased child violence, abandonment and high migration of children into urban centres in-search for survival and employment opportunities. Tanzania, like in other developing countries, prevalence of child abuse in urban areas is high, criminal gangs, street children and girls are also increasing. Believing that adolescents, children and youth are the future of societies and nations, stands as a reason for establishment of EMMANUEL Foundation with main focus to work with local government, national and international civil societies to promote good parenting, responsive caregiving, social and economic empowerment of less privileged groups i.e vulnerable children, women and youth.
